  • Following his failed February attempt to break the Southbound record Tommy Rose set out again on Friday 1st May with a daring plan to fly during the night to break all existing records.
  • Again, it was not to be: Rose had to make a forced landing at Esna in Egypt when sand in the engine caused it to seize. The flight was terminated.
