SA: 1934 AUTOGIRO SOUVENIR CARD: Card addressed to Cape Town franked KGV 5d tied by special canceller of the Air Post Exhibition London 8 May 34.Cachet "BY AUTO GIRO OVER THE ROUTE OF THE FIRST UK AERIAL POST 1911..." This card numbered "1927" and with Cape Town 18 May 34 arrival strike.SIGNED BY PASSENGER, DAVIS. Only 20 carried addressed to Cape Town. Very scarce. During "APEX" the 1934 Air Post Exhibition London (7-12 May), airmail specialist John S. Davis obtained permission from the Postmaster General to carry souvenir cards on a special flight over the London-Winsor route. A C.30 Autogiro from the Ceirva Autogiro Co was used. The aircraft was piloted by R Brie with Davis the only passenger. 2000 souvenir cards were carried, 1800 addressed to the Exhibition, 40 each to Athens, Alexandria and Iraq and 20 each to Paris, Berlin, Singapore and Cape Town.
