  • 1883 2d bright mauve PERF 12 x IMPERFORATE VERTICALLY (SG 50var).
  • F-VF/UM bottom left interpanneau corner block of four of this interesting variety
  • from a COLOUR PROOF sheet, the lower right pane of which was only perforated horizontally.
  • Rare.
  • This block represents 4 of the 60 stamps possible perforated 12 x imperforate. Robson Lowe discovered the sheet in the De La Rue Archives. The upper left pane of 60 was imperforate x perf 12 vertically, the upper right pane was imperforate, the lower left pane was perforated 12 bidirectionally but had 17 stamps missing, the bottom right pane was perf 12 horizontally x imperforate.
