1891 So-called "Coded Barred Triangular Obliterator"
PROVING USE OF NUMERAL 19 AT RUSTENBURG
as struck in blue on Vurtheim 1d postcard used from Rustenburg (squared circle cds 3 MRT 1891) to Pietersburg.
The reverse of the card is a wonderful commercial correspondence regarding rentals due and bears transit cds of Pretoria (MAR 4) with Pietersburg arrival MR 6.
Card with central fold otherwise VF
with absolutely outstanding quality strikes of the postmarks.
An exciting new proving piece for this numeral which was not recorded in the listings published in the "Transvaal Philately" handbook.
A most desirable addition for this particularly elusive typology of postmarks.
