Cape of Good Hope 1849 Soldiers Letter from Simon's Town

1849 SOLDIER'S LETTER from Simon's Town to England. A fine example of the MILITARY CONCESSIONARY MAIL. "From Private Richard Herbert, 2670 of C. Company, 1st. Battalion, 6th. R.W. Regiment", with required endorsements and Officer's countersignature "EJB Lanikley, Captain, Commanding Detachment 1st Battn 6th Foot Stationed at Simon's Town, Cape of Good Hope - Africa" for this military concessionary rate. Lovely strike at lower left of the 1847 Undated Letter Stamp; 2 charge handstamp (the ship's Captains gratuity on letters received by private ship). A rare & attractive example of this military mail. Ex Sattin.
