1863 ROULETTED TRIANGULAR ON COVER: Small format envelope "Per RMS Briton" to Nottingham, England. Franked rouletted 6d rose-lilac (SG 11) tied by triangular defacer. Relevant datestamps of April 1863. Soiled and with faults, still a very presentable example with a patina full of character. Backflap missing although likely origin from Cape Town as similar wide teeth roulettes as per the Wilkins & Sir Maxwell Joseph (lot 646) example. A great Cape rarity, few survivors extant. Cert: RPS. Ex Wilson. See additional image and of certificate.
