  • On reverse arrival cds 29 MR 1817 in red.
  • This is possibly THE most elusive of all Cape pre-stamp markings with very few examples extant.

  • William Howley (1766-1848), an active English Freemason of the Royal York Lodge in Bristol, was consecrated Bishop of London in October 1813.
