1886 THREE COLOUR FRANKING on PROVING COVER BONC 270 VENTERSTAD: Lovely small format envelope bearing three colour franking of Hope Seated ½d, 1d & 6d paying the correct rate to Dresden, Germany. Tied by strikes of the BONC 270 with proving cds MY 17 at top left. 2½d accountancy mark in red. Relevant transit & arrival backstamps. Colourful, fresh, most attractive. Frescura (2002) makes a special comment relative to this BONC canceller recording its use at Lainsburg (numerals 9mm wide) & Venterstad (numerals 12mm wide). The postmarks on this letter clearly prove the numerals used at Venterstad much narrower than stated.
