1899 CAPE/TRANSVAAL COMBINATION / CORK CANCEL COVER: Pretoria (6 MRT) to Holland franked Transvaal 2½d on 1/- via Cape Town (?) where 1d Hope Standing added and defaced by three bold strikes of segmented circular cork cancel. The reason for the additional 1d franking is unclear. Possibly paid a Late Fee (?). On reverse Groningen arrival cds (25 MRT) and "C2" handstamp. A rare and magnificent exhibition piece.
