Card message reads: " September 15th 1901, Wakkerstroom. My dearest mater, 15th today and no burghers come in so we are beginning to ask when this war will end. We go up Honeymoon (6070 feet) sometime this week and in this weather of drizzly rain it won't be extra pleasant. General Pulteny's column is here now with 800 Bushmen & 8th Hussars and they leave, I think tomorrow. The English mail must have gone wrong last week as I didn't hear from either you or the gals in Norfolk. Dear old Methuen and is doing well again now - our hope he'll keep it up. I wonder if old Jeff has got news for home - I haven't heard from him lately. No news. Love to all. Your affectionate son."
