  • 1861 Delightful small format folded entire letter from Inyato (1st Feb) to Bath, England,
  • franked with pair QV Chalon 3d blue (SG 10) tied by light strikes of "1" numeral Durban.
  • Crisp strike of CAPE PACKET DEVONPORT MR 29 with bold strike of Devonport "6d" being English recipient charges raised as the adhesives only paid the Natal internal mail & port charges.
  • A wonderful fresh quality early Chalon letter.

  • The uniform 6d per ½oz ship letter rate was in effect from 1 January 1860. Of the 6d charge, 4d was retained by the UK post office whilst 2d credited to Natal for the coastal service.
