1904 SOLDIERS LETTER from Khartoum to England franked with Arab Postman 5m paying the SOLDIERS CONCESSIONARY RATE. The sender was "No8636 Bugler J Farrell H Company, 2nd Batt, R. Bde, Khartoum, Sudan", the cover bearing required endorsements and Officer's countersignature for this military concessionary rate. Khartoum despatch cds 8 X11, Manchester arrival cds DE 21. A particularly rare late use of this special soldiers rate from one of the very few non-Empire countries in which British forces were based and where soldiers letters were processed at the concessionary rate by the host post office. VF, lovely piece.
