1837 THIRD OFFICIAL FREE HANDSTAMP (O3) on folded wrapper from Cape Town to Clanwilliam, the wrapper watermarked 1836, annotated "Circular" bearing the facsimile signature of "John Bell, Sec. to Govt" and the written signature of "J Spyker", both additions authorising the free postage. One of the scarcest Cape markings, not often seen even in the major collections. The handstamp, dated 19 MY 1837, is perfectly placed in the bottom left corner. Rare.
