South Africa 1925 Alan Cobham Survey Flight Vermilion, S Rhod

1925 ALAN J COBHAM IMPERIAL AIRWAYS SURVEY FLIGHT: Special flight card prepared for carriage on this landmark London-Cape flight. Written by Cobham to his wife in Hampstead, the personally signed message reads: "Arrived Bulawayo & had great reception. Think worst of outward trip now over & we are making full preparations for return..." On message side the PERFORATED VERMILION SPECIAL FLIGHT VIGNETTE LABEL (light soils). Cobham departed Croydon aerodrome on 16th November 1925 and arrived Cape Town 17th February 1926. These cards were posted from the various stops along the route, this example mailed from Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia (KGV 1½d adhesive cancelled Bulawayo cds 1 FEB 26). F-VF, rare.
