1925 ALAN J COBHAM IMPERIAL AIRWAYS SURVEY FLIGHT: Special flight card prepared for carriage on this landmark London-Cape flight. SIGNED BY COBHAM on reverse and bearing the VERY RARE IMPERFORATE GREEN SPECIAL FLIGHT VIGNETTE LABEL. Addressed to Stanley Spooner, Editor of "Flight" magazine in London. Cobham departed Croydon aerodrome on 16th November 1925 and arrived Cape Town 17th February 1926. These cards were posted from the various stops along the route, this example mailed from Jinja, Uganda (KU 20c adhesive cancelled Jinja cds 13 JA 26). Relevant special cancellations. Message side reads: "Flew from Mongalla to Jinja in 3½ hours, takes 14 days by other means of transport." Superb, rare. See additional image.
