South Africa 1934 Royal Tour Triple Pilot Signed Cover

SA: 1934 ROYAL TOUR PILOT SIGNED COVER: Durban to Germiston to Salisbury, from there FIRST FLIGHT to Blantyre. Registered envelope franked 5d and superbly tied & dated by the special oval seal date stamp applied by the Post Office attached to the Royal Tour Train. Front shows the cachets. S.RHODESIA/NYASALAND (black) and FIRST OFFICIAL AIR MAIL (violet). On reverse superb postmark of Blantyre. SIGNED BY PILOTS G.W. BELLIN (SAA to Germiston), CAPT E.H. ATTWOOD (Imperial Airways to Salisbury) & CAPT M.H. PHILLIPS (Salisbury to Blantyre). VF,xceptional. On 1st February 1934 Union Airways had been taken over and become South African Airways. Over this period there was a Royal Visit by the Duke of Kent. On 9th March the first flight of Rhodesian & Nyasaland Airways took place from Salisbury to Blantyre. Mail was sent from the special post office on the Royal Train when it was in Durban to connect with this new service via Johannesburg on Imperial Airways to Salisbury.
