1856 Wrapper to Bloemfontein bearing a crisp impression of the elusive unlined "FAURESMITH BETAALD" handstamp in black at top left. Manuscript date 30/9/5 at centre of handstamp. This letter has a wonderful provenance first appearing in the literature being illustrated and written up by J H Harvey Pirie in the SA Philatelist of October 1947, then again by Robert Allison in his definitive "Postal History of the Orange Free State". A superfluous Cape triangle was removed when apparent it did not belong on an internal letter.
