c1901 Designs "Orange River Colony" at top:
A single page numbered 11 from official records showing 4 embossed impressions in intense black
of various duty stamps which in use were applied in relief, sometimes against inked backgrounds.
These are the accepted designs which were originally reflected on the 1901 Handpainted Proposals being 1/- as design F, 6d as design E, 3d as design D and 1d as design C.
A fine array of these impressions apparently taken in the 1930's as proofings of the colonial dies withdrawn and consigned to the SA Museum.
An exceedingly rare & desirable assembly illustrative of the plain relief revenue "stamps". Superb.
See additional images of the original artworks that led to the dies from which these impressions are pulled. Artwork NOT included!
