Orange River Colony 1905 British Association Visit Postmarks

  • KEVII ½d & 2½d each tied to individual pieces by strike of the special cds canceller
  • "BRITISH ASSN / ORC / SE 2 1905".
  • A rare postmark.
  • The 75th Annual Meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science was held in South Africa. The association visited Bloemfontein where a temporary post office was provided in the Raadzaal. This post office was open from 8:30am on 2nd September 1905 until 10:45 am on 4th September 1905. As the 3rd September was a Sunday, strikes of 2nd & 4th September are the only dates encountered.
  • They are uncommon.
