1896 Government stationery envelope with crested backflap used Eshowe to London. Franked marginal QV 2½d of 1894-96 issue (SG 22) tied light Eshowe Type III cds 18 June. Adhesive paid the 2½d rate for ordinary letter. Durban transit, London arrival cds on reverse. VF, attractive correctly rated commercial use. Rare. Envelope addressed in the hand of Major Harry Gardner, Treasurer & Distributor of Stamps in the Territory from 22nd December 1890.
