1905 BRITISH ASSOCIATION JOHANNESBURG: The rare cancellation on cover, the postmark being used in Johannesburg for only FOUR DAYS. Envelope to England franked KEVII 1d clearly tied by the rare special commemorative postmark in violet on LAST DAY 1 SEPT, backstamped on arrival 24 SP. Exceptional presentation thus, being a pre-printed envelope of the Association.
The 75th Annual Meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science was held in South Africa, with meetings held in the main centres. Special datestamps were provided for postmarking mail handed to the secretary. For Johannesburg a temporary post office was opened in the Technical Institute from August 28th to 1st September. Superb, a rare souvenir of the event.
