1902-04 KE VII 6d bright mauve (SG 76) PRESENTATION SPECIMEN handstamped "SPECIMEN" in violet with small italic type SA1, very rare thus. F/M, tiny pressed crease bottom left. Believed to have been prepared for presentation purposes prior to Union. This italic handstamp was utilised by the Cape Colony for defacement of incoming Record Book specimens that were not already marked "Specimen". See additional image below.
