Cape of Good Hope 1900 Rare Mexican Wreck Salvaged Letter

1900 WRECK OF THE "MEXICAN": Envelope from Cape Town (cds AP 2 00) to England franked with a single Table Bay 1d. Cover bears a good strike in red of the two-line "RECOVERED FROM WRECK OF MEXICAN" cachet. Some crumpling / water damage as expected, a superior quality example of "Mexican" wreck mail. Endorsed on inside as being correspondence of "Capt W Stewart, Lovat's Scouts". Rare. The Union-Castle liner "Mexican" left Table Bay on 4th April 1900 for Southampton. At 2am on 5th April she was sunk by collision with the English transport "Winkfield" in fog approximately 80 miles out.
