1842 Letter wrapper from "C.S. Rodger, Govt. Surveyor, Glen Avous 9.5.1842" (pencil notation on reverse) addressed to a "Minister of the Dutch Reformed Church, Mooi Meisjies Fontein, Albany" care of a chemist in Grahamstown. The wrapper is marked "paid" but nevertheless charged at "unpaid 3d". The writer has initialled the wrapper "C.S.R." and his address is recorded by a small intact wax seal on reverse - "Avous". VF, very interesting.
