c1850 STELLENBOSCH to Cape Town: Neat small format blue folded wrapper addressed to "The Postmaster General, Cape Town" and bearing at lower left a VF strike of the Stellenbosch OCTAGONAL 10 handstamp. Endorsed "On her Majestein Service" with no postage charges being raised.Couple folds, perimeter faults. F-VF, rare. For whatever reason the lower numbered Octagonals remain amongst the most elusive of the Cape pre-stamp markings.
