1895 COLEMAN PROVISIONAL: From the 18th to the 23rd March (excluding 19th - ONLY FIVE DAYS) following a shortage of ½d stamps, J.W. Coleman, the Durban Postmaster, was authorised to sell prepared and signed envelopes confirming receipt of ½d in cash for local delivery. Covers were endorsed in manuscript "One Halfpenny received in money" and signed by the Postmaster. This UNSEALED example from Durban to Petermaritzburg (MR 18) showing as required the Postmaster's endorsement, signature and handstamp in violet. VF, attractive & scarce.
