Cape 1900 Brabants Horse Active Service Letters

CAPE: 1900 BRABANT'S HORSE ACTIVE SERVICE LETTERS: Group of four envelopes from Corporal G Cairns to his mother in England. Dated between February and July whilst Cairns served with G Squadron of Brabant's Horse. Mailed from Sterkstroom (near Queenstown) FE 26, De Wets Dorp MY 10, Senekal JY 2 & FPO JY 11. A wonderful group of very scarce mail from this small yet strategically important unit. Couple imperfections, generally F-VF. Brabant's Horse was raised in January 1900 under the command of Brigadier-General Brabant. The regiment served in the Transvaal, OFS & Northern Cape. They were heavily involved in the Siege of Wepener 9th to 25th April 1900. They were considered one of the best of the irregular troops.
